MASTERING

What is mastering?

Mastering is the final stage of audio production.

It prepares a completed mix for distribution and playback by refining elements such as tonal balance, dynamics, loudness, stereo image, and overall consistency.


Why should I master my music?

A properly prepared master helps your finished production translate consistently across different listening environments and prepares it for release.

Mastering is the final opportunity to refine the finished mix before it reaches your audience.


Can you master one song?

Yes.

Individual track mastering is available at the current rate of:

$250 PER TRACK


Can you master an entire album or EP?

Yes.

Multi-track projects can be handled as custom projects. Contact us with your track count and project details for a quote.


What if my mix isn't ready for mastering?

That's okay.

If your mix needs additional editing, cleanup, balancing, or preparation before mastering, we can evaluate it and determine what needs to happen before the final master.

Why do some services say "Starting At"?

No two projects are exactly alike.

A five-minute voice recording and a multi-track production can require very different amounts of work.

Starting prices allow us to keep our pricing transparent while providing a project-specific quote when additional work is required.


Do you offer custom pricing?

Yes.

Large projects, albums, extensive restoration, multiple episodes, film projects, and other specialized productions can be quoted individually.

Clear Tone Recordings states that artists retain 100% of their royalties from their releases.


Do I keep ownership of my music?

Yes.

Artists retain ownership and rights to their work.


Can you master my music before distributing it?

Yes.

If your music needs mastering before release, Clear Tone Studio can handle the mastering process and prepare your tracks for distribution.


Can you help prepare my release?

Yes.

Clear Tone Recordings provides release guidance covering areas such as release dates, artwork requirements, credits, ISRC information, and digital delivery.


QUALITY & EXPECTATIONS

Can you make any recording sound professional?

Every recording has limitations.

Professional processing can dramatically improve many recordings, but the final result depends on factors such as the original microphone, recording environment, source quality, distortion, clipping, background noise, and performance.

We believe in giving you an honest assessment rather than promising something the source material cannot support.


Will my audio sound louder after mastering?

Mastering can optimize overall loudness while maintaining appropriate dynamics and sound quality.

However, mastering isn't simply about making something louder. The objective is a balanced, controlled, and release-ready result.


Can you make my old recordings sound better?

Often, yes.

Older or imperfect recordings may benefit from restoration, noise reduction, EQ, dynamics processing, editing, and mastering.

The amount of improvement depends on the condition of the original recording.
